"God birthed Serving Strong." (as Scott tells it)

"I was drawn to life coaching through an effort my company was pursuing called
Cogun
University.  I was asked to investigate coaching.  Through the process I came in contact
with
Christopher McCluskey.  Chris became, and remains to this day, an influential friend
and mentor to me.  He introduced me to coach certification through the Institute for Life
Coach Training.  I pursued my certification.

"I fell in love with coaching.  As a client, I experienced the incredible freedom and creative
thought process flowing from the safe environment my coach maintained for me.  I saw
things about myself that I never would have on my own.

"In 2003 I began a coaching benefit on the side.  I called it "Progressmax."  Soon, I was
experiencing how my clients, too, felt freedom to think through situations they were
facing.  They were making noticeable strides because of coaching.

"I was excited.  I had a few clients.  I was reading books like,
Get Clients Now and Book
Yourself Solid.  Things were humming along.

"But after a while the business of coaching was growing more difficult than it should.  I
struggled to find my "voice."  I couldn't define my target market.  I didn't know my niche.
By the 3rd quarter of 2006 I was truly disliking the whole coaching
business.  I was ready
to quit.  I was losing the joy of coaching I experienced earlier.

So, in November of 2006 I prayed to God saying 'I give up.'  'I humbly lay down all my
efforts at trying to build this business.'

"A transformation took place instantly.  God showed me a number of signs.  I remembered
my own struggle with burnout & depression.  I recalled having spent most of my life in one
form of ministry or other.  I was married to a preacher's kid.  And so on.

"Soon, God gave me a target market:
People who help people.
He gave me a coaching niche:
Balance & self-care.
He gave me a new coaching business name:
Serving Strong.

"The key to transformation was the abandonment of my ambitions.  I surrendered
my plans.  I became dependent on His Will.  Once I was willing to "take my hands
off the steering wheel" He was ready to begin His work through me.

"A side note.  When you coach with me your billing statements will still read 'Progressmax.'
I won't change that.  It serves as a reminder to me (and perhaps to others) of the
significance of living in total surrender to the Will of the Father.

"So, Serving Strong is God's coaching
service.  He birthed it out of my... well, not really out
of anything I did - more out of what I DIDN'T do.

"I believe in the coaching process.  And I believe Serving Strong will be a benefit and
blessing to you as you
